We know change.
Because we
never stand still.
For 85 years, we’ve been scholars of humankind: running surveys, unpacking data, turning chaos into clarity. In 1939, our founder Tommie Walker did that by going door-to-door with a clipboard.
Now, we do it differently—leveraging technical and organizational understanding to create a better experience.

We are
ever-evolving.
Over time, we’ve played a lot of roles: running surveys, leading the market research industry, charting loyalty and zeroing in on customer experience. But our ethos is the same: we learn, we understand, we adapt. Every day, we continue to evolve our clients and ourselves. Because after eight decades in this business, our biggest tradition is trailblazing.

1939
Dorothy “Tommie” Walker sets out on her first door-to-door survey: a project for her husband’s bank, who wanted to know if their radio ads were working.

1940s
Tommie picks up more clients and projects and, noting that in-house research often held a bias, opens the country’s first research consumer test kitchen in Indianapolis, Indiana.

1952
Tommie Walker forms Walker Research Services, one of the first market research companies in the nation.

1960s
Frank Walker, Tommie’s son, takes over the company. Walker Research Services replaces hand tabulation with its first computer.

1970s
Walker Research Services begins running phone services in Indianapolis and, eventually, expands its call centers across the United States with help from CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing).

1980s
Walker Research conducts its first customer satisfaction survey, marking its shift from market research to customer experience.

1990s
Frank’s son Steve Walker becomes Walker Information’s third president, and the company starts conducting web surveys.

2000s
Walker Information launches its own internet-based web survey platform: SmartLoyalty®. The company evolves from evaluating satisfaction to measuring and improving loyalty.

2017
Now known simply as Walker, the company becomes a charter member of the Qualtrics Partner Network (QPN) and focuses its resources on technical and organizational services.

2024
Walker gets its fourth-generation president, Jack Walker. The company continues to propel clients’ business forward with Unified XM—a transformative approach to aligning data.
